Dear
Editor,
I
believe that many magazines are contributing to the depression of teens because
of how they look. This is a very important subject to me because I feel sorry
for many teens that go through this depression.
Did
you know that many of these cases of depression are caused by family members
and editing of the magazine? I want to change the way people think about
themselves so that the family of the teen or teens won’t want the teen to go
through this and the family will be a strong, healthy one. Also, I believe that
magazines should leave models the way they are because they are beautiful, even
without digital retouching.
I
also found that nine out of every ten women and or teens are insecure about
themselves when they look at an ad in a magazine article or a cover image. Teens will try anything to
get thin or be pretty like the model. For example, anorexia or even committing
suicide to get themselves out of the depression. I feel that teens need to be
confident for later in life. Confidence in yourself will decrease due to body
image feelings.
I
would like to get the point across that beauty is more than skin deep. What I
mean by that is I want to tell everyone that it doesn’t matter what is on the
outside, but on the inside that counts. People can do many things to get
through this depression. For starters, you can go to a counselor, therapist, or
even your own parents can help you with this depression.
