The big idea of success relates not only to
me, but to the movie The Blindsight also. The reason it relates to me is
because success isn’t just doing your best, but it’s about how your attitude
helps. I am a huge supporter of the word success because I like to be on top,
to win more like. The movie really brings out this team that “needs” to get to
the top of the mountain. Sadly, three people had to go down Mt. Everest because
of health purposes. Thinking they have failed, Erik told them that they had
gone 27,000 ft. This relates to my life in another way also. By being my main
motivator, success has really made me a better person altogether, not only in
sports and competitive events, but life.

My Favorite Place
Sunny, bright day on the hot sandy beach. The golden
grains of sand are leaving imprints on my bare feet from their scolding outer
edges. The bright colors of new swimming suits, mostly neons. My friends are
jumping through the waves beside me. This is the beauty of Cocoa Beach.
The
tastes are unexplainable. The saltiness of the crashing waves on the shores.
Tasting pineapple on my microscopic taste buds from the sweet smoothies. And
the worst taste of all, the sand in my mouth from friends kicking it at my
face. Grinding bits of grains are rubbing against my teeth like a piece of
sandpaper on wood. Of course, the tastes are mostly terrific rather than
terrible.
Smells are like smelling a rose that just came from
the garden. First, I smelled the
salty water that touches your nostrils ever so gently. Then, the sweet smells
that is as sweet as cotton candy. The flaming sand, the sunscreen, and finally,
all of the frozen smoothies that are made on the beach further down from where
we sat. Along with all of the smells, the sights and feelings are exceptional.
The neons, purples, teals, bright oranges and lime
greens of the swimming suits is the first thing I experienced at Cocoa Beach.
Also, I saw the white-capped waves hurling over the eager swimmers. The
seashells that are lined along the shore make this sight seem serene. Wait
until the waves come in. Along with my sights of the beach, my feelings and
what I felt along my skin felt like I was in heaven. The warmth from the golden
sun on my soon to be tan legs was incredible. Also, with the sand between my
toes and near the sadly warm shower after swimming was incredible.
And last, but certainly not least, the sounds. From
the giggling of the small children and the weird sounds from the adults, mostly
yelling at the waves, I defiantly felt like I was at a beach rather than a
library. I first heard my friends yelling at me from the salty waters to jump
in, the water is fine. From laughing in my head to landing in the sea,
underneath the surface is the quietest and most scary place of all.
Cocoa Beach is an incredible place to go that I will
never forget. With my friends by my side and my new swimming suit, what could
be better? And of course, the golden sun beating down on me makes this place
like an enormous sauna. Cocoa Beach is an experience and a place I will never
forget as long as I live.
A Person I Look Up To
One person that I look up to is Nastia Liukin because of her determination. She is an Olympic gymnast that does floor, uneven bars, vault and beam. The reason that I look up to her is because when I get older, I want to go to the Olympics and either be a coach or actually participate in the events. She is a blonde haired, blue eyed girl, about 5'4 in height, which is a spitting image of me. She has done many things in the Olympics by placing in all medals in all competitions, and getting gold in all of these events in one year. I also want to be like her because of her determination in gymnastics. Nastia never gives up if she fails once or twice in an all-around. I look up to Nastia Liukin because of all of her achievements and determination in my favorite sport, gymnastics.

Descriptive Essay- Butterfly Necklace
Glimmering turquoise pool, young kids with their bright new
swimming suits jumping off the edge. Who doesn’t love summer? All of you
friends are there. New suits, tanning oil, and sunscreen, ahhh… the smell of
sunscreen. But for me, this summer was different.
It
was a bright sunny June day at the pool. Small town with a lot of kids at the
pool. Haley had told me in the rainy days of April she was moving in June. The
move came like it was a track race. We were jumping into what felt like cold
water due to the heat. Eventually, her mom came to pick us up to go and help
pack their belongings that would be sent to Sioux Falls the next day. We had
finally arrived to the what now seemed like a desolate grey house, where when
we were younger, we imagined it was a castle. There was nothing left in the
small house after everything had been shoved and jammed into the cardboard
boxes. After the packing was done
and everything was in various sizes of boxes, time was ticking for our last
couple of hours together.
We
walked to the colorful Kiddie Park and went on every ride possible. There she
gave me a beautiful butterfly necklace with the word “friend” embedded into its
silver lining. She had the “best” to it. With the rosy pink and the soft blue
glistening stones, it made it look like it wanted to break free from the chain
and fly away to the golden sunshine. It looked like it was sad, but I knew that
it was for me, made for me I guess. We gloomily walked back past the sweet
flowers filled with nectar for the buzzing bees.
At
her house, we decided to make one last lap around her house in a slow pace. My
mom came to pick me up and that was it. Goodbye to my first best friend and
hello to a new life. No, that’s not it. More like goodbye to my first best
friend. I will miss you so much. I looked at the necklace and it looked back at
me as if meaning to whisper ever so sweetly in my ear, “You will be fine. I am
here for you.”
Tears trickled down my face, leaving salty wet trails down
my cheeks. I had lost her and she will never come back. Friends are like bees
and they can sometimes be like sparkling butterflies. They will come back if
they wish, but sometimes they can’t because of the intriguing flowers that are
holding them captive there. The butterfly had flown to a new beginning in the
roses and wasn’t coming back.
My Lunchroom
At our school, most of the student's favorite place is the lunchroom. In the small lunchroom, the smells of "homemade food" is overwhelming, and not in a good way. We rush to the spots on the small wooden tables and we generally crunch 7-8 people on a bench. The girls sit at one table and gossip and the boys sit at another and talk about who knows what. There are colorful vending machines, nice-ish lunch ladies, and many students from all of the grades. Most of the time, all you hear is laughing and talking, and the lunch ladies usually yelling at someone. "NO running in the lunchroom," is the most common phrase from them. You can sit down a granite-plastic table that it smooth as silk and the chairs that feel like sandpaper when you sit down. There are also many trash cans in the corner. The lunchroom is a fun place to be, most of the time.

The Amazing Thing
One Amazing Thing That Happened Over Break
The one thing that I liked or that I did over Christmas
break was I hung out at Emily’s house for New Year’s Eve. This was the best
celebration yet. It was 10:00 and we were blowing up what was supposed to be 40
bright colored balloons but turned out to be 30. Soon, time was ticking faster
than ever and it was 11:58. We put on our favorite song, and stood under our
balloon filled tarp. At 12:00, we grabbed the tarp and yanked and right then
and there, it was like a balloon catastrophe. I was as happy as a kitten with a
ball of yarn. After all of that fun, we decided it was time to go to sleep. 1
o’clock, 2 o’clock, and finally at 3:30 am, we were out and sleeping like
children. New Year’s Eve is always fun if you are with your friends.

Invisibility Potion of REVENGE
“Should we
do it?” I asked. “Yes! We can
finally get back at the jerk that broke BOTH of our hearts. Deal?” She finally
concluded and I got an evil grin and ended with a mocking “Deal.” The next day
we got the blue gurgling potion and each took a large gulp, which was only
meant to be a sip.
All of the
sudden BOOM! You can’t see us anymore. We had spent the night together and
decided to go to school extra early the next morning. Then, he arrived. Our games had begun and he was struck by
how sneaky we were.
Emily and I
trotted down the long halls and knocked everything over. We were in history, in
the class that we were all in. Including the IT, we can’t say his name. His
computer was miraculously pushed on the ground making a crack and all of they
keys were misplaced. Oops, my bad. NOT.
In fourth
period, his book was accidentally thrown at the teacher. Detention…and payback.
With his face red and his eyes glowing blue from the tears at his eye line, he
was embarrassed. Sadly, the potion wore off at lunch and we had to rush to the
bathroom and we kind of just showed up out of nowhere.
IT was scared, and embarrassed, kind of
the way we felt when IT killed our pink, beating hearts with his icy cold
“thing” that is so called a heart.
