Name Poem

Allison
A strong
Young girl
Who has yet to show her worth

Courage
A name
In which
I have possessed over the years for my great achievements

Quiet
The one
With not a lot to say on the outside
But on the inside

Secretive
Many stories
To tell
But no one to tell them to

Love
Loving in the heart
With nothing but sympathy
For the underprivileged

Scared
Scared to show the world
Like a child
In a tornado

Perfect
Maybe in school
Not on the outside
But on the inside

Bold
Finally spoken
My stories have been told
And I shall live with them forever

This is Just to Say

I have shot
You with a
Sharp arrow
In the leg

Your were probably
Going to run
Like a cheetah on
That in track

Forgive me
For you
Decided to
Say no

Symbol Poem

A bear
who was once warm
but now is cold

A bear
Now vanished
Like its love

A bear
With secrets to tell
But now has hid them away

A bear
Who was so close
But now so far away

A bear
Now with no color
But the color of a stone

A bear
Who was my best friend
But now my worst enemy

Favorite Place Poem

 Anticipation

Dark
Dark night
Waiting for the sun to rise

Cool
Cool morning
Watching the parents sleep

Fun
Fun morning
Presents all around the tree

Bright
Bright paper
All scattered among the floor

Finally
Finally awake
Open the presents

Cool
Cool gifts
That every child loves

White
White snow
Too cold to go outside

Hot
Hot chocolate
That melts in your mouth

Red
Red and green
The colors of my favorite holiday

Colored
Colored paper
Lined up among the tree

Twinkling
Twinkling lights
And blue bulbs to make it sparkle

Warm
Warm fire
And stockings hanging above it

Christmas
Christmas morning
My favorite place to be

Thursday December 13th

Hey!!!

Happy Thursday. Today in our first 3 classes we learned a lot. In Geography we learned about what happened in the Middle East. In Reading, we talked about our essay questions for the Book Thief.

Book Thief Review Questions

In English, we looked at the song Firework by Katy Perry. Then we used our poetry themes to decide what each line means in the song. Mrs. Morrow then showed us the video of the tornado that tore apart the whole school.

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I believe that many magazines are contributing to the depression of teens because of how they look. This is a very important subject to me because I feel sorry for many teens that go through this depression.

Did you know that many of these cases of depression are caused by family members and editing of the magazine? I want to change the way people think about themselves so that the family of the teen or teens won’t want the teen to go through this and the family will be a strong, healthy one. Also, I believe that magazines should leave models the way they are because they are beautiful, even without digital retouching.

I also found that nine out of every ten women and or teens are insecure about themselves when they look at an ad in a magazine article or a  cover image. Teens will try anything to get thin or be pretty like the model. For example, anorexia or even committing suicide to get themselves out of the depression. I feel that teens need to be confident for later in life. Confidence in yourself will decrease due to body image feelings.

I would like to get the point across that beauty is more than skin deep. What I mean by that is I want to tell everyone that it doesn’t matter what is on the outside, but on the inside that counts. People can do many things to get through this depression. For starters, you can go to a counselor, therapist, or even your own parents can help you with this depression.
